About The Parade

Commissioned by Manchester City Council
Produced by Walk the Plank
Created by Manchester People

The Manchester Day Parade was created in 2010 and is now a spectacular addition to the city’s annual calendar of events. Conceived with the ambition of celebrating the creativity and diversity synonymous with Manchester, it is a great opportunity for communities to celebrate individual and collective pride in their city as well as to portray the stories of what makes them feel uniquely Mancunian in a highly visual way.

The Parade has grown each year, bringing a dazzling array of costumes, music, dance and incredible structures to the city centre’s streets. Over 2,400 participants from 90 community and social groups across Manchester get involved each year, aiming to wow an audience of more than 45,000 residents and visitors who line the streets as the Parade weaves its way through the city centre.

With its many benefits for the city, the Parade brings communities, artists and businesses together to create something truly special for Manchester.

This year’s Manchester Day Parade, themed ‘The Sky’s the Limit… a celebration of heroic achievements’, takes place on Sunday 10 June – 2pm till 4pm. So make a note in your diary, and come into the city to experience the biggest event of the year.
