Parade Producers
The Manchester Day Parade will once again be produced by outdoor arts organisation Walk the Plank – a creative force of artists, theatre-makers, pyrotechnicians and event engineers.
Walk the Plank’s work has been acclaimed throughout the world, although they will be remembered with particular affection in Manchester for the stunning lantern parade created by local communities, which formed an illuminated human body at the closing ceremony of the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
The organisation have recently returned from Turku in Finland where they opened the city’s Capital of Culture year with large-scale event This Side, The Other Side, involving acrobatics, the world’s largest fire drawing and a finale firework display. Walk the Plank have also produced work for Singapore Arts Festival, Toronto Winter Festival, the BBC, WWF and English Heritage.
