Groups can work with an artist to develop creative ideas consistent with the theme – The Sky’s the Limit – a celebration of heroic achievements. This could be designing a float, creating costumes, making music or choreography. Individuals, small groups or families can take part and possibly work together with other people to create a section of the Parade or make costumes.
We want to encourage as many people as possible to take part in the Parade. However, entry in the Parade is subject to a selection process and cannot be guaranteed. Although we try to involve as many groups as we can, resources are limited and we will have to say no to some groups. If the event is oversubscribed, priority is given to:
- Groups that the Steering Group feels have the most creative ideas
- Groups and individuals participating for the first time.
We would like the Parade to be as green as possible and therefore will be discouraging the use of motorised vehicles as floats or diesel-powered generators. We actively embrace all ideas for structures that can be walked, pushed, pulled or wheeled.
